Baelor studies the omega’s face in the low candlelight. It is no great effort to lay with him, but he cannot be certain that his brother feels the same.
“There is no hurry,” he says at last. “I do not need to burden you again so soon.”
Maekar glares at him. “It is no burden,” he says shortly, as his face pinks. “But if you do not want to couple with me then speak plainly, I do not need feeble excuses,” he spits.
Baelor reels back in surprise. “It is not an excuse,” he objects.
“No?” Maekar mocks. “Then you are the only hot blooded alpha in the realm that does not want to lay with a willing omega.”
Or, three moons after Valarr is born, Baelor is given permission to resume his rights with his brother.

Summary
This series started almost by accident.
As the collection grew, I started noticing a pattern. Although the stories follow different people and different moments in history, many of them are connected through the same Targaryen line. More importantly, they explore the impact Duncan has on the people around him.
At one point, I considered writing directly from Duncan's perspective, but I ultimately found myself more interested in everyone else. There was something fascinating about watching his influence ripple outward through the lives of princes, kings, lords, and family members who may never fully realize how much of their story began with him.
Of course, Lyonel Baratheon found his way into the series as well. Some things are inevitable. I have a particular fondness for the Laughing Storm.
In the end, this series became a collection of connected moments, linked together by the people Duncan touched and the generations that followed.

Maekar jerked back, his chair scraping against the floor. "I am not staring at your miserable hand."
"You were." Baelor finally withdrew his arm, resting his chin thoughtfully on his knuckles. The gold light caught the fresh pink scar running across his palm. "You've been staring for years. It used to be amusing. Now it's just… fascinating."
In which Maekar has always been fixated on Baelor’s hands. Baelor catches on, and offers him a feast.
