Summary
Bruce Wayne is out of options- leaving the Joker in Arkham simply ensures that the man will escape, and hit his city harder with each new visit. Out of desperation, he does the only thing he can think of- chooses to face the clown not as Batman, but simply Bruce, in an attempt to rehabilitate him into society. But the project turns even more dangerous when Bruce finds his obsession with the clown transcends his role as Batman- and when the clown returns to the interest.

Summary
Joker’s brow furrowed, and he let out a loud, mocking ha! “Are you serious, Batsy? You think that’s why I play our little game?"
“It isn’t a game,” Bruce snapped.
“Of course it is! Of course it’s a game!” Joker splayed his arms out. “I serve, you volley, back and forth, that’s what we do! And you know what? I don’t care.” He spat the words like they were the acid that churned beneath them. “What does it matter to me? You’re my player two, bay-bay! I’m having too much fun! Why would I ever want it to stop?”
Something about the way he was speaking, it…it was too practiced. Too performable. Like…he’d been thinking about this for some time. “…How long have you known?”
Joker threw his head back, cackling, and shook it on the way back down. “Long enough, but it doesn’t matter. It didn’t then, it doesn’t now. Nothing has to change! Gotham is our arena, the two of us her gladiators. What does it matter what happens when the fight is up? All that matters is the fight.”

Summary
“If I rip it out, will you love me less?”
“I will love you until there is nothing left of either of us.”
To the Joker, the child is a parasite designed to make him soft, to make him civilized. He spends a frantic, sleepless week trying to poison his own blood supply with cheap toxins, hoping to kill the thing growing behind his navel.
Instead, he only succeeds in rendering himself blind with fever, bleeding from the nose and ears in the dirt of an old subway tunnel. Bruce finds him, of course. Bruce always tracks his Omega.
What follows is a quiet, claustrophobic nightmare of domesticity: Bruce nursing him back from the brink of self-destruction, pressing cold cloths to his burning forehead, and holding the Joker’s hands away from his stomach with a grip that is part iron handcuff, part desperate prayer.
